Happy Halloween!!!

Happy Halloween!!! I wanted to show everyone my super fantastic mermaid make-up for my Halloween Costume! 

My friend Jessica assisted me with my make-up.  Here's a quick run down of what she did!  I started with applying my normal concealer and foundation.  Jessica then applied an eye shadow primer to the areas of my face where I wanted the scales.  We placed a fishnet stocking over my face.  Make sure the fishnet is centered and they aren't too stretched out in any spots so that the scales are a consistent size.  She used shimmery purple and green eye shadow to fill in the scales.  We removed the fishnet and then she created a mixture of white glitter and white eye shadow to create a highlighter to fill in between the scales.  I did my eye make up and added bronzer and highlighter.  Jessica then attached my gems, pearls, and shells.  We used eyelash glue to attach everything and it worked perfectly! 

I was so impressed with Jessica's talents!  This is by far the best Halloween make-up I've ever had!!! Hope you all have a fabulous Halloween!!!

Mermaid Tiara

Hello! Today's craft was lots of fun (and frustrating) to make!  I was inspired to make my tiara by a Pinterest post.  Unfortunately, mine didn't go quite as smooth as the Pinterest post, but I'm incredibly pleased with how my tiara turned out! 

What you'll need:

-Tiara

-Sea Shells

-Pearl Paint (I used Martha Stewart Brand)

-Crafting Pearls

-Hot Glue Gun

-Wood Glue

-Super Glue

 

The Pinterest post I found used a dollar store tiara, however I didn't like the selection at the dollar store, a lot of the tiaras were made of plastic and weren't going to hold up once the shells were attached.  I purchased my tiara from Walmart.  I made sure that the tiara had higher arches so that I had surface area to attach the shells.  I started by painting the shells. Once they were dry, I started gluing the shells on from the center out.  The glue situation was a little frustrating.  Hot glue was good for a quick fix, however, it wasn't holding up.  I ended up using both wood glue and hot glue. The wood glue provided a stronger bond over time.  I attached the tiny shells and crafting pearls using super glue.  I love the way my mermaid tiara turned out!  Hope y'all enjoy!!!

Wooden Wreath

I'm super excited to share this craft!!!  I initially found it on Pinterest and I LOVE the way it turned out, I made two!!! Here we go! 

What you'll need:

-Wooden sign

-Wood cut outs- Crab, Anchor, Dolphin

-Baby sized flip flops (I went to Old Navy)

-Monogram! (Can you tell I'm obsessed with Monograms?!)

-Sea Shell

-Rope

-Paint

-Paint Brushes

-Wood Glue

-Hot Glue

To start, I painted the wooden sign (purchased from Michael's!)  While that was drying I painted the smaller wooden pieces (also purchased from Michael's!)  I used a wood glue to secure the rope to the wooden sign.  I also used wood glue to secure the anchor, crab, and dolphin.  For the monogram, shell and flip flops, I used a combination of wood glue and hot glue.  I feel like the wood glue holds for a longer period of time and the hot glue helps secure it immediately.  This project does take a little patience when gluing the rope.  I laid out the rope before cutting it down to size, just to make sure I had the correct measurements. When it came time to glue the rope, I tried leaving it in the circle pattern and just lifting one portion at a time while applying the glue.

This is by far one of the cutest things I've ever made! It looks adorable in my living room!  Just a side note: I purchased the flip flops in the baby section of Old Navy.  Both pairs of flip flops had a strap that went around the ankle, I did end up cutting that portion off to make the flip flop more simplistic!  Thanks for reading!!! Mermaid Photo Frame

Super excited about this craft! Here we go! 

What you'll need:

-picture frame

-sea shells

-hot glue

-star fish

-pearls 

-paint 

-glass pebbles

I purchased frames from the dollar store, just in case this didn't go as planned, I wasn't out a lot of money!  We started by painting the picture frames. Once the frames were dry, we used hot glue to secure the shells, glass pebbles, and pearls. Then- add a photo! And you've got yourself a mermaid frame!

Shelly Monograms!

I'm crazy about the beach and monograms!  If you are too, then you'll love this craft!  Way easier than I expected!

What you'll need:

-Letter (I used "H" for my last name)

-Paint

-Sea Shells!

-Paint Brush

-Hot Glue

My letter was a natural wood color and I knew I wouldn't be able to completely cover every inch with shells, so I painted the letter white first.  After the paint was dry I began placing shells and gluing.  I didn't map it out, I just worked each piece one at a time.  

I was surprised everything fit together as nicely as it did.  My biggest concerns were that the hot glue wouldn't hold the shells and that the shells wouldn't fit together well. Happy to report those weren't issues! I normally use shells that I collect at the beach, but for this craft I wanted a better variety of size, shape, and style.  I purchased these shells at Walmart, the shells were about $4 cheaper at Walmart than Michael's.

It fits perfect in my living room that's decked out in beach decor!  I have so much fun making these crafts and I hope you're enjoying them as well!!! Thanks for stopping by!

Adventure Book!

This was one of those crafts I wasn't quite sure where I was going with it and I made a few mistakes... but I still love it! I found photo albums on sale at Michael's and didn't really plan on decorating them... Until I was on a Pinterest binge and saw a few different things that lead me to this!

What you'll need:
-Photo Alum (the one I choose was fabric)
-Sea Shells!
-Ribbon
-Mini Pearls
-Sharpie
-Contact Paper
I get 95% of my supplies from Michael's, other times AC Moore, Walmart, Target, and Amazon (god bless prime!)

Initially, I used the sharpie to write directly on the fabric, but didn't anticipate the ink bleeding, it wasn't cute!  I tried painting over the marker and that did turn out cute, however I wasn't paying attention and I smeared the paint- sad face- there was officially no going back! So after all of my silliness, I used a small piece of contact paper to cover up my fails!  I just used the Sharpie to write on the contact paper.  I'm not very good with cutting a straight line and that's where the ribbon saved the day!  I used hot glue to secure the ribbon and trim the contact paper (to hide my uneven cutting.)  I added the final details of mini pearls and sea shells with hot glue. 

I'm very satisfied with this project!  Now, I just have to decide what photos are worthy being a "Mermaid Adventure!" Hope y'all enjoyed this one! Thanks for reading!!! 

Flip Flop Wreath!

To make the flip flop wreath you'll need:

-4 pairs of flip flops 

-Hot Glue Gun 

-Crazy Glue

-Embellishments! (Ribbon/shells)

-Letter or Word

Initially when I made this wreath I used a styrofoam base, but it ended up not working out the best!  It's actually easier to attach the flip flops to each other. 

To start, organize the flip flops in the pattern that you prefer. I made a "t" shape for the first layer, and then added the second layer between each flip flop. I then used hot glue to secure the flip flops in place, however I found that if you place the wreath in a high sun area, the hot glue won't hold for long! When I touched up the wreath I used hot glue in combination with crazy glue and that seemed to work much better! 

You can add whatever embellishments you prefer! I used ribbon and sea shells. Once everything is assembled, attach a word or letter in the center (it helps cover where all the flip flops intersect.) Michael's always has a lot of cute embellishments, like butterflies, flowers, and such!
